Enrolment Procedure
Please read our information leaflet carefully and find out everything you can about Montessori. Following the Montessori Philosophy makes us very different from mainstream early childhood centres. We ask you to please visit different centres so you are sure that Montessori is you choice for education. We ask for parent commitment and work in partnership with families so the best results for the child are achieved.
If Montessori is your choice of education fill out a pre enrolment form. This puts your child on our waiting list, however does not guarantee a place. We will email you twice a year inviting you to our introductory evenings, held in the first and last term. We recommend attending when your child is young and then again just before they start, bring grandparents or friends, and we prefer both parents to have attended. We will give you lots of ideas to do at home to help ensure your child is ready to make a smooth transition to us when they are three. Attendance at an introductory evening is compulsory except in unusual situations.
We do have a waiting list and advise enrolment from as young as possible. We will do our best to let you know in advance if you are unlikely to get a place.
We take siblings of children who are going on to the Montessori Primary class first, then families who want to attend the Montessori Primary class and have shown their commitment. Finally we follow the waiting list in order of who is next in line and the right age to take a place that has become available. We always advise you to keep your child’s name on the waiting list for other centres in the event there may not be a place available.
You are welcome to communicate with us and we will be in touch when your child is almost three. Full enrolment involves a 30 minute meeting, where you come and fill out the enrolment form and we show your child around the class and introduce them to activities, the bathroom etc. This meeting happens usually at a weekend just before commencement.
The major expectations we have of families who do enrol is that they will attend our parent nights held once a term (four times a year), and that they will work alongside us on promoting healthy eating, providing their children with a healthy non processed lunch and water to drink. We have a strong commitment to Te Reo Maori, when possible we have someone come into our classes to work with us and the children.
The following form is for the Mahurangi Montessori Primary Trust, if you want your childs name to go on their waiting list, please fil out the form and post it directly to them at the address on the form.
